Buddhists prostrate themselves in front of the Potala Palace in Lhasa

Buddhists prostrate themselves in front of the Potala Palace in Lhasa, the capital of Tibet, China, Saturday, June 20, 2009. The Potala Palace was the former home of the Dalai Lama before he fled Tibet after a failed Tibetan uprising against Chinese rule in 1959. Foreign tourists have had sporadic access to Tibet in the past 16 months since China imposed a security clampdown following large protests against Chinese rule in March 2008, but in recent months the region has been opened to foreign tourists again.
