Israeli soldiers patrol the West Bank city of Nablus on July 22, 2009. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel's controversial separation barrier in the occupied West Bank would not be dismantled. Netanyahu spoke on the same day that the Maariv daily ran a report that the Palestinian Authority has recently relayed a message to US President Barack Obama's administration, asking that the barrier be dismantled because of the improved security situation in the territory.
